Indians Rugby Club Crest

Team - Women's

who we are

The Women's side of the Ottawa Indians Rugby Football Club originated in 1989 as a member of the Ontario Rugby Union. In 1994, the team became a member of the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union, where we competed against high caliber teams for the next four years. Through hard work and determination, in 1999, we were offered the opportunity to compete in the Quebec Rugby Union (QRU). We are back playing in the Eastern Ontario League to support development of rugby players in Ontario. We play teams all over the Ottawa area as well as Kingston and Napanee. We will attend various tournaments throughout the year from New York State to Quebec and other areas.
We have a wide variety of playing backgrounds on the team. Girls from the East Coast, Central Canada and West Coast are all playing with us. We cater to all skill levels as well. Our team has always consisted of players with a wide variety of experience ranging from first time players to Provincial and "Area" rep team caliber. There’s a place for everyone!
We currently compete in the Eastern Ontario Women’s 1 Division and also have a U19 team. All high school players are welcome. We strive to help young players gain experience and give them rugby throughout the year! We are very active in the community, and a number of our players coach in high schools in Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata and Richmond.
