The club prides itself on being supportive of each level and program of rugby that the O.I.R.F.C offers, and aims to form teammates on the field and lasting friendships off the field. Some of the annual events that help to assert and maintain such friendships are Comedy and Trivia night fundraisers, a Canada Day Pub Crawl in the heart of downtown Ottawa, and Christmas and Awards party to wrap up the end of season. There are also many events throughout the season that help to build a friendly, almost familial, community within the club.
June 12th, 2010 – Mystery Plaid Bus Tour
A new twist on an age-old tradition. Pub crawl meets bus tour meets plaid meets an element of surprise. And did we mention plaid? This year’s Mystery Bus Tour has a good-hearted theme: plaid! The Ottawa Indians social committee has organized a Mystery Bus Tour that will take players, family and friends on a mystery pub crawl in the Ottawa area. The tour will take participants to 3 unknown bars in the Ottawa area, with transportation and a few extra surprises being included in the evening. The Mystery Bus Tour will be starting at our sponsor bar Buster’s Bar and Grill in Lincoln Fields. The bus will be picking participants up at Buster’s and will be departing at 8:00 pm on June 12th. Please use this first stop as your dinner and evening kick-off location after a Saturday afternoon of hard played rugby. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from any member of the Social executive. Tickets must be purchased prior to June 12th. Must be legal drinking age to participate. And please remember to support the theme, and wear your plaid!
July 1st, 2010 – Canada Day Pub Crawl
Once again the Ottawa Indians will be holding their annual Canada Day Pub Crawl. This year’s event will begin at Lieutenant’s Pump downtown on Elgin Street and will end in the Market in time for the fireworks. Cost of this event is $10 and each participant will get a 2010 Canada Day Pub Crawl t-shirt. All money raised will go towards the functional cost involved in maintaining the club. T-shirts will be available mid-June and can be purchased from any member of the Social executive. We look forward to another successful Ottawa Indians annual tradition and celebrating Canada’s birthday! Must be legal drinking age to participate.
